If you had 5 million to spend on cars, what would you do?

Would you spend it all on one thing, like a Lamborghini Veneno? Or would you spread it around and build an awesome garage? I always thought I would do the one major purchase, but then I realized I like far too many cars for that to be reasonable. Also, if you're curious, I would get a P1, an F40, An Ezno (Probably around 3 million at this point) A GT3 RS 4.0, a Tesla Model s, an Aventador, and maybe spend the rest on a rotating stable of brand new cars. What do you all think? What would you spend your 5 theoretical million on?

I would get a massive garage and fill it with the most misguided machinery possible. Fiat Multiplas, Gremlins, Pacers, Yugos, maybe an Aston Martin Lagona or two. Etc. Going for world's best bad car collection.

P1, each gen corvette (and the special model would be chosen for respective gens - example: 1967 427 coupe, c6 ZR1, etc).

Then I'd get a raptor, a virage, an STi, a CTS-V, an AMC javelin, a 240z.

Then build a garage around them.

At least a million, maybe a mil and a half, would go straight towards the construction of my "garage" which would look more like a show-room. Probably invest in some crappy property with a standing structure and renovate that bitch; maybe an old gas station or garage. Then, have a nice maybe four to six car work/display area with a nice, dry and temperature controlled storage area in the back for another maybe five to ten cars.

Oh, and then I'd make a great big donation to charity since I'm apparently rich enough to spend five million dollars on my hobby.

Then, I'd start collecting.

There'd be a few Mustangs, to be sure. There's be a Type 2 and probably a 1500 because I do love VW's. Beyond that, it'd depend on what took my fancy and how interested I'd be in swapping spots in the future.

I'd spend at least a million on a moderately sized house with a HUGE garage. I'd then put every single modification possible to make my FR-S into a real track weapon. Then I'd buy the following

Norton F1 (Rotary engine sportbike)

Morgan 3-Wheeler

Caymen R (for the canyon carving)

Lucra LC470 (because god damn it is gorgeous)

'65 Corvair

Singer 911

And finally a Zonda 760RS

The rest would go into investments/upkeep/insurance

As you can see, I've given this some thought, like frequently. I like going fast, and I like going fast in all conditions. Function over form and all that, a vehicle's prestige, legacy, or even it's appearance is a lower priority for me. First and foremost it needs to do what I want it to do, and it needs to be a vehicle where I'll actually get the chance to take it to its/my limit (legally) on a regular basis, not one where I can say it can hit X mph but I'll likely never actually do it.

1) Race shop: $1,650,000

You saved me a lot of work. I'd take this garage in a heatbeat, and I would trade a few of them out for variety as the years went on. Also, I'd have to take one of them out of the equation and use the money to completely restore Eva.

Kinja'd!!! Desu-San-Desu > ddavidn
12/09/2013 at 23:33

Actually, I factored in about $40,000 left to completely restore and upgrade Herr Quattro , so you could just use that money on Eva. :-D

12/09/2013 at 23:38

Kinja'd!!!0

Ahhhh yes, that would be good for her.

I'm thinking, though, that I would want to drop the newest STi, the last car, and one of your Datsuns, and get an E36 M3 LTW (but I'd still drive Eva!) and a Hilux. Also, I'd want Nameless to convert that BRZ to a rally car. Not sure how much that costs, but I might have to drop the NSX for it. Which I'm fine with.

Kinja'd!!! Squid > McChiken116 - Patrick H.
12/09/2013 at 23:48

Kinja'd!!!0

I would have an RB swapped KP110GC, a full STi swapped GC8 with JDM 6sp tranny and DCCD, a AE86 with the Levin front end and an F20c sitting beneath the hood, a 32 Ford with sweet period Offenhauser heads and other trick period parts, an NB with a 5.0 under the hood, a 2007 ZX3 with a 5.0 under the hood and a full RWD conversion, an e49 M5, for shits and giggles I'd have a K car with a ridiculous motor in it to humiliate people who have no sense of humor, I guess there might be room for a MP4-12C in there, I'd also have an example of a 99 Viper ACR and another 09 Viper ACR. I don't know what that tallies up to but I'm pretty sure it may be half of what was allowed. I would use the rest of the money on building a garage with a hoist and full kitchen and sleeping quarters (with a garage that awesome who wouldn't want to spend the night with the cars?). Ok well I just conservatively estimated that with those cars I didn't even break the 1 mil mark. . . So next would be an Ariel Atom, then there would be an Exige S and to round out the track toys there would have to be a BAC Mono. I guess figuring out a way to get a Stagea Autech R260 over here and letting it sit until it is 25 years old would be on the list, Maybe a Ferrari 308 could be thrown in just to have a costume party where I could dress up as Tom Selleck. . . There would also have to be a replica of the A-Team van. Umm what else I guess I would need some sort of off-road vehicle so a Defender 90 would have to be in the garage parked next to a H1 for juxtaposition. I guess that would make me a happy camper and make it so I would never leave the garage. . .
